Leaving The ER

Well this is my last week in the ER.  After 25 years in an ER somewhere I am leaving to try a new area of nursing.  I am apprehensive and excited all in the same moment!  To all of my ER friends, old and new, I salute you.  Please take a moment to let me pat you on the back for your skill, your abilities, and your willingness to give of yourself again and again, even when you don't have much left to give and that clock on the wall just won't move.  I appreciate all of you and have learned so much from all of you! And especially to my night shift friends, there must be something about the lack of sleep combined with lack of sunshine that forms some kinda crazy, wonderful mojo because you are the best!  The trusting bonds of teamwork formed on nights are essential and some of my very best friends are night shift folks!  (Laura, who would have thought a friendship could bloom over a sink of puke at 2AM! YOU know what I mean!)  My daughter, Miranda, has been encouraging her Mama to take this step for a long time so here I go!  I love you all so much and will always feel ER nurses are the best!  Christina says outpatient is where old ER nurses go to die but I plan of living on!  Everyone please keep in touch!  Love, love, love, Lisa
