A Jag...

Except for a short nap yesterday, I have been up since 4pm Tuesday. Is this Thursday?? Night shift messes me up so bad but never fear, there is a crash landing in my future...sooner or later. There is no Sudafed or Cherry Coke in my system, no wait, I did have Cherry Coke yesterday afternoon, but only a few sips!! I had exciting plans for today's blog with lots of pictures but my laptop has lost its mind. It continually flashes the "Start" menu off and on, and won't let me access anything online. I think the laptop has already crash landed and soon there will be extra room at my desk! I can't put pics on here using my iPad so my planned pictorial is finise before it started. Oh well here are some word pictures if you're interested.

I got the Cherry Coke in historic downtown Cross Plains, Tennessee at the local pharmacy's soda fountain which has been preserved in a sense. Picture a 1950's soda fountain surrounded by large wooden display cases with lots of glass, and booths or cute little tables to sit at, with pharmacy customers filling their Lortab prescriptions and wondering why their medical card wouldn't pay. Oh well, they tried but it was a strange mix of decades in there. Cross Plains is a few miles from our house and we went exploring, starting out at the historic Corner House Antiques, next door to the drug store (I think everything in this small town is labelled historic to pull travelers in off the interstate.)

Corner House is a beautiful old home with antiques, adirondack chairs made from old barn wood (very cool), handmade soaps, and the owner mentioned soon they will be selling cupcakes there! Once again, a strange mix of way back when and yesterday...are cupcakes already out of fashion? Guess not in historic Cross Plains. We bought five bars of yummy soap and a cute 1960's ceramic object d'art. Again very cool! I love handmade soaps and I just refuse to rub Proctor and Gamble chemicals all over my body. Organic, milled soaps are expensive compared to the chemical deodorant bars but they are well worth it for the scrumptious aromas (oatmeal clove and lemongrass sage) and the lack of laureth sulfate or DDT or whatever those $1.79 bars have in them! So fun times at the Corner House!

Then we went next door to the old-timey, post-modern pharmacy and I had a Cherry Coke and Tracy had a caramel shake (not so good for a diabetic but delicious) and took some awesome pictures inside which I can't post. There were lots of other historical sites to see but we are going back this weekend to their "Trash or Treasure" hoedown that promises 200+ yard sales and flea markets in historical downtown Cross Plains. They even got a writeup in the Nashville paper! Can't miss that!

My mom sent me a package yesterday, an early birthday present and it is a quilling bonanza! Thanks Mom for all the thought and love you put in my quilling care package! Quilling has come a long way and there are tools and colorful papers and books and kits...just awesome! So I did my first project (sorry no pictures). I got started on my project fast and furious, aaah it's all coming back to me now a la Peter Sellers on the parallel bars and then I couldnt put it down.

Don't ever work hard on a craft project and then give it to a boy!! :) Tracy received my first quilling project in 30 plus years which took me nearly two hours to complete and his response? What do I do with it? He was very pleased to receive it and I'm sure he didn't realize how long it took me because he was tied up with his own crack...Cityville!! He had hospitals and schools to build and criminals to chase down in his town on Facebook and time just flew by! He gave it a place of honor at his Command Center but I think he's still baffled by my excitement.

Then it was on to my next planned project! I finished all the quilling work on it but I am not satisfied with it. Since it's a gift for someone I won't go in to much detail but ummmm my quills don't look like the book :( I'm working on that but finally had to force myself to put it down around 2am. Like Tracy said, I don't have to do everything in one night. But I really, really wanted to! Lol

So he went to bed and then I moved on to pinterest and when "Popular" kept coming up with the same images, (I was refreshing every 2-3 minutes) I gave up on that and moved on to Words with Friends and Hanging with Friends. That didn't take long, nothing new on Facebook, hey it's daylight outside!! I have worked the past five nights out of six so I haven't checked on my garden lately. That's what I'll do! I'll take lots of pictures of the garden to put on my blog and I did, only to find out later that my laptop is sick. Bummer! But the garden is doing good, flowers, green peppers, tomatoes, jalapeƱos, banana peppers galore! Everything is kinda wild and bushy with all this rain and heat. And the stupid lawnmower people haven't mowed in weeks! Gosh, it's a jungle out there!

Well it's 730am and Tracy is up so guess I'll go for now. Signing off, your manic blogger says good bye to all three of her followers and have a wonderful day!
